Ferrari confirmed this Wednesday the contract extension of Charles Leclerc for “the coming seasons” of the Formula 1 World Championship, without specifying the exact duration of the new agreement.
This extension could however be part of a very long-term commitment. Leclerc already had a contract running until 2029 and the new agreement would be an extension of that, which could tie him to Ferrari beyond 2030. The Scuderia, however, has not released any official details on the length of this new deal.
This announcement extends an already long-standing relationship between the Monegasque driver and the Scuderia. Arriving at the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2016, Leclerc accompanied the Italian manufacturer throughout his rise, from his Formula 2 title in 2017 to his arrival at Ferrari in 2019 after a first season in F1 with Sauber.
Over the years, the Monegasque has established himself as one of the central faces of the Ferrari project, thanks to his speed, qualifying performances, and his closeness to the tifosi. At only 28 years old, he is already the second most capped driver in Ferrari’s Formula 1 history and the second-best pole position holder for the Scuderia, behind Michael Schumacher.
“This team has become a second family”
Charles Leclerc welcomed an extension that holds a particularly personal meaning for him.
“I couldn’t be happier to continue this journey with Ferrari. It has always meant much more than just a team to me. It’s the team I loved and dreamed of being part of since my childhood and, after all these years, it has become a second family.”

Leclerc also emphasized his unwavering confidence in the project led in Maranello and his ambition to bring Ferrari back to the top.
“We have experienced incredible moments together and some more difficult ones, but I believe in this team more than ever and I am deeply grateful to continue moving forward side by side towards our common goal: bringing the world title back to Maranello.”
“Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but also a responsibility that I never take for granted. I will continue to give absolutely everything I have to bring this team where it belongs, at the very top, for everyone who works at Maranello and especially for the tifosi, whose passion is the beating heart of this Scuderia.”
Vasseur highlights a “natural” renewal
Team principal Fred Vasseur presented this extension as the logical continuation of a common project built over several years.
“Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years and this renewal seems very natural to us. Over the seasons, we have seen him progress to become not only one of the strongest drivers in Formula 1, but also a person completely in tune with the team and everything Ferrari represents.”
“We appreciate his talent, we love his determination and his way of approaching each day with the people of the Scuderia, both on and off the track. We know how much this project means to him and we are happy to continue working towards our common goals.”
