The Argentine will thus keep his seat alongside Pierre Gasly, allowing the French team to bet on stability with a duo that will compete together for a third consecutive season.

After a sometimes difficult 2025 season, Colapinto has taken a step forward this year. The 23-year-old driver has already scored 19 points in twelve Grands Prix, finishing in the top 10 six times.
Tenth in China, he achieved the best result of his career with a seventh place in Miami, before doing even better two weeks later by finishing sixth in Canada.
A great progression
These performances, as well as the progress made in his work with the engineers, convinced Alpine to continue the adventure. Having joined the team from the 2025 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Colapinto now has 38 Formula 1 starts and seems to have found some stability at Enstone.
His extension also allows Alpine to lock in its duo very early for 2027. Gasly had already extended his long-term commitment with the team last year.
The progress of both drivers accompanies that of the team. Thanks to a more competitive chassis-engine package, Alpine currently occupies sixth place in the constructors’ championship. Gasly and Colapinto notably managed to score points with both cars on four occasions this season, in China, Canada, Barcelona, and Great Britain.
Briatore bets on stability
Flavio Briatore believes that keeping Colapinto is an important step in Alpine’s rebuilding, even though his priority remains above all to provide a car capable of fighting at the front: « We are very happy to confirm our driver duo for 2027 with Franco remaining alongside Pierre. For me, having continuity is very important », explains Briatore.

The Italian nevertheless insists that the drivers represent only part of the equation: « We are now stabilized on the driver side and, as I have often said, even if it is an important piece of the puzzle, the most important thing is to design and build a fast car. That remains absolutely our number one priority. »
Briatore also believes that Colapinto’s performances in Miami and Montreal have definitively demonstrated his place in F1: « We have seen Franco truly grow and mature to become an excellent driver this year. His results in Miami and Montreal especially confirmed what I already knew: Franco deserves his place in Formula 1 and in this team. »
Colapinto now wants to win with Alpine
For his part, the Argentine is delighted to be able to continue a project in which he now feels fully integrated: « I am very happy to stay with this team in 2027. I feel very good and perfectly settled here, and it is even better because we have made significant progress this year compared to the previous one », he emphasizes.
Colapinto also shares the ambitions expressed by Alpine in the longer term: « Our long-term goals are clear: to fight and win. I am grateful to the team, Flavio, and Steve for the trust they place in me so that I remain one of their drivers in the future. »
The announcement comes a few days before the Italian Grand Prix, where Colapinto will also have the evolved version of the A526. With Gasly and Colapinto now confirmed, Alpine can thus fully focus its efforts on its main objective: continuing its climb up the hierarchy and gradually getting closer to the leading teams.
