The 2026 Australian Grand Prix weekend will remain a particularly cruel memory for Oscar Piastri. The McLaren driver was not even able to start his home race after an accident occurred while he was on his way to the grid.
While driving towards his starting position, the Australian lost control of his car at Turn 4. The McLaren clipped the kerb at the exit of the corner before veering violently towards the outside of the track.

A fan explained on social media that they received a motion notification on their Ring camera at the exact moment the McLaren was passing the property at full speed. The camera then recorded the scene, capturing the moment Piastri’s car left the track before violently hitting the wall.
The camera owner then shared the video online, where it quickly spread among Formula 1 fans.
