The anticipation around Max Verstappen’s debut at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring is immense. However, fans present in Germany will have to wait before catching a glimpse of the four-time F1 world champion.
While the festivities of the famous endurance event begin on Wednesday with the traditional parade through the streets of Adenau, Verstappen Racing will ultimately not participate in the event.
This means that Max Verstappen, as well as his teammates Jules Gounon, Dani Juncadella, and Lucas Auer, will be absent from this first major event organized before the race weekend.
The 161 entered cars will officially take to the track only on Thursday, but the parade usually remains a highlight for spectators on site.
A decision linked to Verstappen’s enormous popularity
According to information relayed by RacingNews365, this absence is not a personal choice of the Dutch driver. The organizers reportedly directly advised Verstappen to avoid this public appearance due to the risks related to the expected crowds around him.
The presence of the Red Bull driver is causing exceptional enthusiasm for this 2026 edition of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Tickets for the weekend were sold at a record speed, notably thanks to Verstappen’s arrival in the event.
Even though usually only about fifty cars participate in the Adenau parade, authorities feared that a massive movement of fans around the Dutchman could create security problems difficult to manage.
With several thousand supporters expected around the circuit and in neighboring villages, caution was ultimately prioritized.
Verstappen also absent from autograph sessions
This precautionary measure will not only concern the opening parade. The organizers also confirmed that Max Verstappen will not participate in the official fan meet-and-greet sessions nor in the autograph signings planned during the weekend.

Again, this is not a refusal by the Red Bull driver, but a decision made exclusively for safety reasons.
The goal is clearly to avoid any overflow or crowd movement around the Dutch star, whose popularity now far exceeds the scope of Formula 1.
Enormous pressure around his endurance debut
This first participation of Verstappen in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring attracts exceptional attention in the world of motorsport.
For several months, the Dutchman has been multiplying test runs and GT3 races on the Nordschleife to prepare for this new adventure.
His performances during the NLS championship rounds immediately impressed. Verstappen notably secured a pole position on his debut before winning on track, although this victory was later canceled after a technical infringement. These results have increased the excitement around his presence in the legendary German race.
Verstappen expected among the favorites
Despite his lack of experience in a 24-hour format, Verstappen is already among the credible candidates for the overall victory thanks to his pure speed and the quality of his crew.
The Red Bull driver will share his Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Lucas Auer, Dani Juncadella, and Jules Gounon, three references in the global GT scene. But even before the race start, Verstappen’s media impact is already felt far beyond the track.
To the point that the organizers preferred to limit his public appearances to avoid any incident around one of the biggest stars in current motorsport.
