Max Verstappen is about to take on a new challenge on the legendary Nordschleife… but the weather conditions could seriously spice up his weekend. Between clear spells and showers, the 24 Hours of Nürburgring qualifying promises to be particularly tricky.

Saturday should start under good conditions, with dry and bright weather ideal for launching the first sessions. But soon, the sky is expected to cloud over above the Eifel.

Localized showers could appear in the afternoon, with a well-known phenomenon on the Nordschleife: some parts of the track can be wet while others remain completely dry. A headache for the teams.

Sunday even more uncertain

The situation could get more complicated on Sunday, with a higher risk of rain. Uncertainty remains high about the timing of the precipitation, which could play a key role in strategies.

Alternating clear spells and wet patches: the conditions are ideal for trapping the drivers, especially on a circuit as long and demanding.

Paradoxically, these conditions could work in Verstappen’s favor. The Dutchman has never hidden his desire to drive in the rain on the Nordschleife, in order to prepare as best as possible for the main race.

Paired with Lucas Auer, he will therefore have the perfect opportunity to test his limits. It remains to be seen whether this capricious weather will be an advantage… or a real trap.
