For a long time, Kush Maini seemed to be heading for victory. Starting from pole position, the Indian driver controlled the race before seeing his hopes vanish due to an unlucky strategy.
His pit stop, which took place a few moments before a Virtual Safety Car, allowed Noel León to come out in front. The Mexican thus offers a new victory to Campos Racing, just one week after being deprived of a podium at Spa-Francorchamps following a disqualification.
Câmara returns to the championship
Third, Rafael Câmara also continues his excellent climb in the championship. The Brazilian driver is now two points behind Gabriele Mini (MP) and twenty points behind leader Nikola Tsolov (Campos). Starting second, he once again lost ground at the start, a challenge that has continued to trouble him for several races.
The most intense battle of this event was between Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak and Joshua Dürksen (Invicta). After several overtakes and a fierce battle, the ART Grand Prix driver finally had the last word by finishing fifth, ahead of Dino Beganovic (DAMS) and Tsolov.

The championship leader limits the damage despite a quiet weekend. The Bulgarian retains the top of the standings but will need to find more performance after the summer break if he wants to contain the comeback of his pursuers. On his side, Mini, winner of the Sprint race on Saturday, could only manage ninth this Sunday. The Italian thus concludes a mixed weekend before the championship resumes at his home in Monza, the venue of the next round after the summer break.
Naël winner on Saturday, penalized on Sunday
In Formula 3, Frenchman Théophile Naël (Campos) could have achieved a clean sweep if not for a penalty incurred in the main race for not leaving enough space to a competitor in their tough duel. Victorious in the Sprint, he nevertheless remains third in the championship.
Freddie Slater (Trident) claimed his first F3 victory after a great battle with Ugo Ugochukwu (Campos) in the main race held in Budapest. Achieving his sixth podium this season, the Audi protégé takes the lead in the provisional standings with an 8-point lead over his American rival.
The competition will also resume in early September at Monza before concluding a week later on the new Madring circuit, the venue of the Spanish Grand Prix.
