For Lewis Hamilton, 2025 will remain the most difficult year of his career. Arriving at Ferrari with great ambitions, the Briton never managed to find the right rhythm with the ground effect car.
The statistics speak for themselves: no Grand Prix podiums, early eliminations in qualifying, and even a last place in pure performance in Las Vegas. An unprecedented situation for a seven-time world champion.
At times, doubt even seemed to set in, such as when he called himself “useless” after a complicated session in Hungary.
Confidence never truly broken
Despite this negative spiral, Hamilton now asserts that he never lost confidence in himself. He considers this period a normal stage in the career of a high-level athlete.
“I haven’t lost confidence, it’s a natural phase in an athlete’s life,” he explains.
For him, these difficult moments are part of the journey and even a necessary step for progress. He also speaks of a true mental and personal test.
Hamilton describes this period as “the ultimate test” for any athlete. The one that involves getting back up after failure, without external help.
“The most important thing is to get back up. No one did it for me, I did it myself,” he insists.
This process of reconstruction, both mental and physical, is, according to him, the key to returning to the highest level. A philosophy that reflects his experience and longevity at the top of the sport.

A visible renewal in 2026
The first results of the 2026 season seem to confirm this return to form. Hamilton has already secured a podium in China, proof that he has regained sensations closer to his usual level.
The new generation of single-seaters, more in tune with his driving style, also seems to be working in his favor. This renewed performance allows him to approach the season with a more offensive mindset.
Beyond his personal performances, Hamilton emphasizes the importance of teamwork. Alongside Charles Leclerc, he wants to help Ferrari take a step forward.
“I want to help the team go in the right direction,” he explains, notably mentioning his involvement with the engineers at the factory.
The objective is clear: reduce the gap with the leaders and fight for victories again.
Ambition intact despite challenges
Hamilton remains clear-headed: the season will be long and difficult. But far from being discouraged, he is actively preparing for it, both physically and mentally.
“I know it will be a complicated season, but I want to maintain this level of performance,” he states.
After going through one of the most complicated periods of his career, Hamilton seems ready to write a new chapter… with intact motivation and strengthened determination.
