George Russell is taking advantage of the summer break to take an important step in his personal life. The Mercedes driver has announced his engagement to his partner Carmen Mundt.
The Briton made the news official on his social media this Sunday. Together for several years, Russell and Mundt will soon be getting married.
Regularly present in the paddock, especially during Grand Prix weekends, Carmen Mundt has been supporting the Mercedes driver in his Formula 1 career for several seasons.
A simple announcement on social media
Russell chose to share the news in a particularly simple way. The Briton posted four photos on Instagram, accompanied by a single emoji representing an engagement ring.
The post quickly generated many reactions and accumulated likes. Several personalities from the world of Formula 1 also congratulated the couple.
Among them is notably Kimi Antonelli, Russell’s teammate at Mercedes. The Italian congratulated his teammate while the two men are currently enjoying the summer break before starting the second half of the season.
This announcement comes after several years of relationship between Russell and Mundt. The couple regularly appears together on the sidelines of Grand Prix events, even though the British driver usually remains discreet about his private life.

Russell joins Leclerc among the concerned drivers
George Russell thus becomes one of the last drivers on the grid to approach marriage. Charles Leclerc notably took this step earlier in the year.
The Monegasque got engaged in 2025 before marrying Alexandra Saint Mleux in 2026.
For Russell, this happy news comes amid a particularly eventful season on the sporting front. After starting the championship with a win in Australia, the Mercedes driver has experienced several difficult weekends, between reliability issues and inconsistent performances.
He currently holds third place in the championship with 160 points, 59 points behind his teammate and leader Kimi Antonelli.
Return to competition at Zandvoort
Russell still has a few days to enjoy his vacation and celebrate his engagement before returning to competition.
Formula 1 will resume later in August at the Dutch Grand Prix, held at the Zandvoort circuit.
The Briton will then try to restart his campaign and reduce his deficit in the championship. But before diving back into the battle for the world title, Russell can savor a much more personal milestone: his upcoming wedding with Carmen Mundt.
