The success achieved by Ferrari at Silverstone has brought new hope to the Scuderia, but Charles Leclerc refuses to draw hasty conclusions. Before the Belgian Grand Prix, the Monegasque believes that the priority is not to chain victories, but to demonstrate that the performances shown in Great Britain can be reproduced.
Ferrari had approached the British weekend with some pessimism. The team expected to struggle against Mercedes on a circuit particularly demanding in terms of energy management. In the end, Lewis Hamilton took pole for the Sprint race before finishing second, while Leclerc won on Sunday after leading 42 of the 52 laps.
Even if the failure of Kimi Antonelli’s wheel guard facilitated his end of the race, the Scuderia left Silverstone with a victory and a third place, reigniting discussions about a possible return to the fight for the championships.
Regaining good feelings above all
Despite this positive momentum, Charles Leclerc refuses to project himself towards another victory at Spa-Francorchamps. The Ferrari driver prefers to focus his attention on the progress made with his car, especially after finding solutions to his balance problems during Friday evening at Silverstone.
“Personally, I’m not really focusing on that. My goal is mainly to regain the same feelings with the car” Leclerc explained to the media, including RacingNews365, when asked about his ambitions for the Belgian Grand Prix.
“If I regain that feeling with the car, I’m convinced I can get the most out of it. If not, it will definitely be more complicated.”
Understanding why Ferrari surprised everyone
The Monegasque recalls that Ferrari absolutely did not expect to show such a level of performance at Silverstone. Before the weekend, the team even imagined that Spa would be even more difficult due to the characteristics of the Belgian circuit.
“As a team, we work very hard to fight with Mercedes. We expected a very complicated weekend at Silverstone. Even before this race, we thought Spa would be even harder.”

The victory obtained in Great Britain inevitably changes the perception of the forces at play, but Leclerc believes it is still too early to know if Ferrari has really taken a step forward.
“Obviously, since we won at Silverstone, we might be a little closer than we thought at the start. But that still remains to be proven.”
The goal: confirm rather than dream
For Charles Leclerc, the priority is now to understand the reasons that allowed Ferrari to exceed all expectations during the previous Grand Prix.
“We need to understand why this weekend was exceptional compared to our forecasts.”
The Scuderia driver thus assures that the whole team will analyze in depth the data collected at Silverstone to verify if this competitiveness can be reproduced on other circuits.
“We will focus on all that. But personally, I will not focus solely on the victory, because that would be the wrong approach. I will simply focus on the process to regain the best possible feelings and get the most out of this car.”
At Spa-Francorchamps, Ferrari will therefore seek less to confirm its success on the scoreboard than to validate the technical progress glimpsed in Great Britain. An essential step to know if the Scuderia can really sustainably join the fight against Mercedes during this 2026 season.
