Ollie Bearman keeps Ferrari in sight, but without rushing the steps

Ollie Bearman keeps Ferrari in his sights

Oliver Bearman does not hide his ambitions: his long-term goal remains to join Scuderia Ferrari. But the young Haas F1 Team driver refuses to be distracted by speculation surrounding his future.

In Montreal, the prospects of a seat as early as next year at Ferrari for the young Briton have become even more complicated.

After a strong race, Lewis Hamilton reaffirmed his intention to continue his career “for some time yet,” while Charles Leclerc remains firmly committed to Scuderia at least until 2027, with options until 2029.

No rush

A situation that considerably reduces short-term opportunities for the Briton: “I am under contract with Ferrari. They have trusted me from the start, so it is natural that my goal is to continue my career with them. There is no timeline, so no rush, I am only 21 years old.”

His priority remains Haas today, where he is having a convincing season. With 18 points scored, he currently occupies ninth place in the championship, well ahead of his teammate Esteban Ocon.

A member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2022, Bearman quickly climbed the ranks. After several successes in Formula 2 with Prema Racing, he particularly stood out in Baku by winning both races of the weekend.

Methodical progression

His reputation grew even more in 2024 when he stepped in at the last minute for Carlos Sainz in Jeddah. Called a few hours before the start due to the Spaniard’s appendicitis, he impressed by finishing seventh in his debut behind the wheel of the Ferrari.

An experience that gave him the certainty that he could compete at the highest level: “I feel ready no matter what and that’s the main thing. I am clearly making progress in terms of consistency. It’s not by getting distracted by rumors that I will improve my performance.”

The Briton knows, however, that waiting too long for an opening at Ferrari could cause him to miss other opportunities. His name has notably been linked to the Audi project, led by Mattia Binotto. The former Ferrari boss knows Bearman well, having followed his development within the Maranello academy.

Player in the transfer market

But the main interested party prefers to stay away from discussions related to the transfer market: “Many drivers are reaching the end of their contracts and everyone will look at the 2026 hierarchy to imagine what 2027 will be like. That’s not my job. I drive the car. There are people who take care of the rest for me.”

In the short term, Ferrari therefore remains Bearman’s acknowledged dream. But the English driver knows that his best argument to achieve it remains the same: continue to perform and demonstrate, at Haas, that he has the makings of a future Scuderia driver.
