Ferrari continues to strengthen its technical department with the arrival of two experienced engineers from rival teams.
Luciano Nicomede (photo above) leaves Mercedes to join Maranello, while Carlos Sánchez Martínez arrives after nearly eight years spent at Aston Martin and Racing Point.
Men of experience
The two recruitments have not yet been officially announced by the Scuderia, but those involved have confirmed their team change on social media. They come to strengthen Ferrari’s technical organization, particularly in areas related to the chassis.
Luciano Nicomede joins Ferrari as Senior Chassis Composite Designer after more than four years at Mercedes in Brackley. A specialist in composite structure design, the Italian engineer considers his arrival in Maranello an important step in his career.

A dynamic policy
Ferrari has also recruited Carlos Sánchez Martínez from Aston Martin. The Spanish engineer had joined the Silverstone team during the Racing Point era and spent nearly eight years there.
Martínez is notably specialized in structural calculations and stress analysis applied to composite and metallic components. His expertise therefore concerns a crucial area for designing parts that are both light, rigid, and capable of withstanding the extreme loads encountered by a Formula 1 car. After the British Grand Prix, Martínez announced his departure from Aston Martin, mentioning a new challenge in F1, a new team, and new colors, without revealing his destination at the time.
These two transfers are part of the recruitment campaign led by Ferrari under the direction of Fred Vasseur. Three other technical recruitments are also expected to be revealed after the summer break, when the gardening leave periods of the engineers concerned have ended. Although these arrivals are less publicized than those of major technical directors, they demonstrate Ferrari’s desire to increase the depth and expertise of its technical structure in the long term.
