After two difficult weekends, Lewis Hamilton is determined to turn the page and says he wants to come back from the summer break without giving the stewards any reason to penalize him.

The seven-time world champion first acknowledges that his last two races did not meet his expectations: “The last two races have been quite bad on my side.”
The Briton notably addressed the penalty received for a false start during the British Grand Prix, believing that the stewards’ decisions sometimes lack consistency.
Spa and Budapest, two incidents that cost dearly
“We talked about it during the drivers’ briefing, he points out. There is a lack of consistency in this kind of decision. In the past, some drivers moved without being penalized.”
Hamilton explains that the subject was discussed directly with the stewards to clarify the interpretation of the regulations: “We discussed the fact that, as long as the car does not move when the last lights are on, there should be no penalty. I had not left my grid position. They agreed with this interpretation and they will review it for the future. ”
The Ferrari driver also commented on the collision with George Russell at Spa-Francorchamps, a penalty he considers harsh: “Even the driver I collided with explained that it was simply a racing incident. I think this penalty was unnecessary. It cost me a lot of points.”

On the other hand, regarding the incident with Oscar Piastri during the Hungarian Grand Prix, Hamilton takes his share of responsibility: “It was really unfortunate. I take responsibility since I was on the racing line. I should have checked my mirrors. I thought everyone had already finished their first lap. The information I received came too late. It was a communication error.”
The goal: no longer give the stewards any excuse
Despite these frustrations, Hamilton says he wants to learn from this difficult period to avoid any new controversy during the second half of the season.
“I will work hard to come back stronger,” he assures. “There are still many positive points to take away. And I will do everything to no longer give them any reason to penalize me.”
Even though he continues to regret some of the stewards’ decisions, Sir Lewis now wants to focus on his own performance to approach the championship restart in the best conditions and leave the controversies behind him.
