Aston Martin is going through a difficult season in terms of development. While the British team is still trying to catch up with its main rivals, Lance Stroll confirmed that the first significant upgrades to the car are not expected before the restart after the summer break, at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.
An announcement that confirms a slow pace on the Silverstone team’s side, which chose to prioritize other technical issues at the start of the season.
A season spent solving vibration problems
Even before the start of the championship, Aston Martin faced a major issue related to vibrations in its car. A problem serious enough to worry the drivers, to the point of mentioning a potential physical risk.
According to the team’s information, this problem was finally fixed during the Miami Grand Prix, allowing both cars to finish the race for the first time this season, an encouraging sign but still far from podium ambitions.
Stroll confirmed this improvement while reminding that overall performance remains insufficient.
Performance still far from the mark
Despite solving this specific problem, Aston Martin remains struggling in terms of pure competitiveness. The Canadian driver insists that the team still needs to improve on several fundamental aspects of the car.
“We fixed the vibrations in Miami, that was an important step. Both cars finished the race for the first time this season, so it’s progress” explained Stroll.

But the rest of the development looks more complex, especially in key areas such as downforce and power.
“Now, we need to find much more downforce and power. That’s what we’re working on.”
Upgrades postponed until after summer
Regarding the arrival of new parts, Aston Martin has already set a clear horizon: no major update will be introduced before the end of summer. The first upgrades are expected either after Spa-Francorchamps or directly for Zandvoort.
A perspective that highlights the delay accumulated by the team in the development race against its direct competitors.
Stroll remains realistic about short-term ambitions: “Will it be enough to fight at the front? No. But these things take time. We’re pushing to bring the maximum performance as quickly as possible.”
A transition season for Aston Martin
In a context where major teams continue to bring regular improvements to their cars, Aston Martin seems engaged in a slower technical rebuilding phase.
The challenge for the team will now be to limit losses while waiting for these upgrades, while preparing for a potentially more competitive second half of the season.
