McLaren is about to reach a major symbolic milestone in its Formula 1 history. On the occasion of the Monaco Grand Prix, the Woking team will compete in its 1000th World Championship start, an event the team has chosen to celebrate with a special livery.

This unique design, also used at the following Spanish Grand Prix, is part of a symbolic campaign carried by the message “McLaren Never Quits,” intended to illustrate the resilience and longevity of the British outfit.

A tribute to McLaren’s history in F1

To mark the event, McLaren has planned a special ceremony on the starting grid in Monaco. The current car, the MCL40, will be displayed alongside the very first team car in F1, the M2B, entered during the 1966 season.

This staging will highlight the evolution of the constructor, from its beginnings in the World Championship to its current status as a paddock benchmark.

The moment will also bring together several key figures of the team, past and present, including Zak Brown, Andrea Stella, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, as well as former McLaren Grand Prix winners and Stefano Domenicali.

Zak Brown highlights the team’s heritage

McLaren’s CEO emphasized the importance of this symbolic milestone, underlining the team’s place in F1 history and the continuity of its sporting commitments.

He recalled that McLaren is only the second team to reach such a number of Grand Prix starts, stressing the richness of its heritage, but also the more difficult periods experienced over the decades.

According to him, this special livery is above all a tribute to the team’s ability to bounce back and remain competitive despite performance cycles.

Monaco, starting point and strong symbol

This 1000th Grand Prix takes on an even more symbolic dimension as it takes place in Monaco, the site of McLaren’s very first appearance in Formula 1 in 1966.

Since its beginnings, the British team has amassed an impressive record with more than 200 wins, over 500 podiums, as well as numerous world driver and constructor titles.

A celebration focused on the future

Beyond nostalgia, McLaren also wants to frame this event in a forward-looking dynamic. The message “Never Quits” reflects this desire to continue progressing and aim for new successes.

For the Woking team, this symbolic milestone therefore represents not only a tribute to the past but also an additional step in a story far from over.
