This project focuses on the beginnings of the seven-time world champion, from Formula 3 to his first steps in the elite, long before he became a legend at Ferrari.
Produced by Grey Universe and directed by Lubo Marinov, a genuine fan, this twenty-minute film is primarily a proof of concept for a more ambitious project.
The beginnings of a supremacy
The goal is not to trace Schumacher’s entire career, but to focus on a pivotal moment, the one where everything can change: before the glory, before the titles, when raw talent still has to prove itself.
The director explains that he was intrigued by Schumacher’s immediate adaptability at the start, unlike many young drivers today. He wanted to understand what made him different from the moment he arrived in Formula 1. The film therefore explores this fragile phase, made of opportunities, doubts, and crucial decisions, where a single race can change a career trajectory.

The trailer notably features the legendary Jordan 191, the single-seater with which Schumacher impressed during his debut at Spa in 1991 (photo above), before joining Benetton. The onboard sequences draw inspiration from modern filming techniques, similar to those used in recent F1 productions, with visual effects designed to enhance immersion.
Bulgarian accent
In terms of casting, Jivko Sirakov plays Schumacher with a notable physical resemblance, while Dimiter D. Marinov portrays Eddie Jordan. While some choices, especially the accents, might be divisive, the overall aim is to capture the essence of an era and the birth of a phenomenon.
Expected next fall, The Kaiser aims to immerse viewers in the exact moment when a legend like Michael Schumacher was still just a promising young driver, on the border between anonymity and exceptional destiny. We are curious to watch this film that briefly revisits a key period in recent F1 history with modest means but undeniable passion.
