Since his surprise dismissal from Red Bull Racing last year, Christian Horner has been much quieter in the world of Formula 1. The former director of the Austrian team, long considered one of the key figures in the paddock, now seems to be enjoying a welcome break after years of tension.

Although he is still allowed to join another F1 team, the Briton has for now chosen to take a step back.

In recent months, Horner has nevertheless continued to attend various motorsport championships. Earlier this year, he was notably seen in MotoGP as a guest of Liberty Media, owner of the premier motorcycle category and Formula 1.

Last weekend, he also made a notable appearance in Formula E in Monaco, this time as a guest of Liberty Global.

“Zero pressure,” a radical change for Horner

Asked by talkSPORT about his presence in the Formula E paddock, Christian Horner admitted to greatly enjoying this new, much more relaxed situation.

“I’m enjoying this break a bit, and it’s really nice to be on a grid where you have absolutely no pressure” he explains.

After two decades managing one of the most exposed teams in F1, the contrast seems particularly striking for the Briton.

“Usually, when you’re on a starting grid, you’re already thinking about the next two hours. Here, I’m simply here to get to know Formula E a little better.”

Horner also praised the progress of the electric championship, whose popularity has continued to grow in recent years.

MotoGP, football and family on the agenda

Since leaving Red Bull, rumors about his future remain numerous. Several media outlets have mentioned possible interest from Alpine, while other speculations send him towards a managerial role in MotoGP.

But for now, Horner seems to be mostly enjoying a much simpler daily life.

“I went to see MotoGP to get to know the bikes a bit, then I attended several Coventry City matches” he recounts.

The English club recently secured promotion to the Premier League, which has apparently kept the former Red Bull boss busy during his free time.

“That kept me occupied following their journey.”

A break after thirty intense years

Beyond motorsport, Horner especially emphasizes the importance of this personal break after decades spent under constant pressure.

“For the first time in thirty years, I’ve had a bit of time for myself, mainly with my family, and it has done me a lot of good.”

Now it remains to be seen how long this break will last. With his immense experience and record in Formula 1, Christian Horner remains one of the most sought-after profiles in global motorsport.

His return to a major role probably seems more a matter of timing than a distant real possibility.
