Young Arvid Lindblad experienced a mishap during tests organized by Pirelli at the Suzuka circuit. Driving for Racing Bulls, he lost control of his car due to water accumulation on the track.
A victim of aquaplaning, the Briton ended his run in the barriers. Images of the incident show a car damaged at the front, notably with a torn-off wing. Fortunately, the impact remained light and without physical consequences for the driver.
A crucial test for Pirelli
These tests are part of an important program for Pirelli, which is actively working on the development of its wet and intermediate tires for the coming seasons.
Initially scheduled for earlier in the year, some tests had to be canceled, pushing the manufacturer to take advantage of this unpredictable weather window in Japan to accumulate valuable data.
On the first day, Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar notably drove with wet tires, before switching to intermediates when the track began to dry.
A driver rotation at Racing Bulls
For the rest of the program, Arvid Lindblad took over from Liam Lawson at the wheel of the VCARB 03.

The Italian team, based in Faenza, is actively participating in these tests alongside Red Bull Racing, with both structures collaborating with Pirelli during this championship break. Contrary to some rumors, neither Max Verstappen nor Yuki Tsunoda were scheduled for these tests.
Despite the visible damage to his car, Lindblad was quickly able to return to the track. The team repaired the car in time to allow him to continue testing in the afternoon.
According to the data provided, both teams accumulated significant mileage, with dozens of laps completed in varied conditions.
A formative experience
This episode, although frustrating, remains an important learning step for Arvid Lindblad. Driving in extreme conditions is part of a driver’s development, especially during tests dedicated to exploring the limits of the tires.
In a context where grip management and weather conditions are becoming increasingly crucial in Formula 1, this type of experience could prove valuable for his future progress.
