Alpine reassures Gasly: “a lot of work” behind the scenes before Monaco

Pierre Gasly assures that Alpine has worked intensely behind the scenes to correct its recent problems, as the French driver approaches the Monaco Grand Prix with optimism, despite many unknowns.

After several complicated weekends, Pierre Gasly confirmed that the Alpine team has multiplied its analyses to identify the origin of its technical difficulties, particularly in comparison with his teammate Franco Colapinto.

“We worked a lot. We clearly see what’s not working. We compared what’s wrong with Franco’s car” explained the Frenchman.

The driver emphasizes that the data confirms his feelings, even if the exact source of the problem remains difficult to isolate.

“I’d like to be able to say it’s fixed. We’ll have to wait to be sure. My feeling is confirmed by the data. Now, it’s not easy to understand where it comes from” he added.

Gasly also mentions a persistent issue with the rear axle, which continues to prevent the full exploitation of the car’s potential.

Monaco, a special event for Gasly

The Alpine driver also approaches the Monaco Grand Prix with enthusiasm, an event he considers one of the most special on the calendar.

“I’m really looking forward to it. For me, it’s a truly special weekend” he declared, recalling the importance of French fan support and the unique atmosphere of the Monaco circuit.

He nevertheless insists on the difficulty of the circuit, where qualifying remains absolutely crucial.

“Here, it’s 95% about qualifying. Qualifying is the most important. It’s still Monaco, we know that’s mainly what we need to focus on” he added.

An unpredictable and very demanding circuit

Gasly nevertheless remains cautious about the expected performance, highlighting the many uncertainties related to the new technical package and the specificities of Monaco.

“I arrive with a very open mind. It might be much more difficult than before. We’ll see in FP1 and how it goes” he explained.

According to him, recent technical developments could modify certain behaviors in the race, but without guaranteeing to upset the usual hierarchies.

“With the changes, we shouldn’t expect clipping. We’ll have more energy than we’ll need on the lap. We’ll see, I don’t have an answer” he confided.

Colapinto confirms his progress

For his part, Franco Colapinto shows positive momentum, with a better connection to the car and the team after two solid weekends.

“I feel more connected with the car, better within the team, and that’s part of the reasons why I achieved good results” he explained.

The Argentine driver also approaches Monaco with confidence, while recalling the complexity of the circuit and its unpredictable nature.
